Headquartered in Perth, Tertiary Balance services clients Australia wide including residential colleges and Universities. We are specialists in indirect taxes applicable to the university residential colleges sector and provide advice on use of the Residential Colleges GST Tool, Division-129 adjustments and other areas.
Our company also provides general advice and reporting on the student accommodation sector. In 2014 we were tasked with carrying out the National Census of Student Accommodation Providers which expanded the scope of the 1999 Census by providing a detailed survey and analysis of all 100+ bed student accommodation providers in Australia. We also provide demand analysis for student housing among other things. We have a wide range of analytical, statistical and design capabilities which we can draw on for analysis.

The Residential colleges GST tool has been developed by the ATO to reduce residential college compliance costs associated with working out the GST outcomes of their sales and acquisitions
An updated version of the GST tool is now available for the 2017-2021 calendar years.

Division 129 of the GST Act is the provision that provides for the making of an adjustment where there is a change in the extent of creditable purpose in respect of an acquisition.
The Div-129 Calculator [repares contingent taxation (GST) liability statements to meet your college or university’s reporting obligations to external auditors and/or financiers (under AASB 137: provisions, contingent liabilities and contingent assets).
